.uz WHOIS statuses explained: ACTIVE, REDEMPTION PERIOD, AUCTION, EXPIRED, RESERVED
The .uz registry WHOIS (whois.cctld.uz) shows a Status: line for every domain. Together with the dates, it tells you what is happening to a name and when it can be registered. Here is what each status means, based on our monitoring of the zone.
ACTIVE: the domain is registered
The normal state of a paid domain: the registrar, the creation date and the expiration date are shown. If the creation date equals the expiration and update dates, it is most likely a fresh registrar reservation that has not been paid yet (see below).
REDEMPTION PERIOD: expired, in the recovery period
The owner did not renew. The domain stays in redemption for 30 days: the registry points it at a status page that names the registrar, and the owner can still restore it through that registrar. The name drops about 30 days after it enters this status, not 30 days after the Expiration Date: in our data the gap between expiry and the start of redemption ranges from a few days to a month.
AUCTION: the registry has put the name up for auction
After redemption, short and premium names do not drop; they pass to the registry. WHOIS then lists the UZINFOCOM administration as the registrar, with no expiration date. These names are sold at the domain.uzex.uz auction, and lots can stay there for months. More about the auction.
EXPIRED: an unpaid reservation has lapsed
A registrar can reserve a free name for a customer for about 7 days before payment. If nobody pays, WHOIS shows EXPIRED, with creation and expiration dates equal to the reservation day. Note that such a record still blocks registration until the registry deletes it.
RESERVED: held by the registry
Service names the registry does not hand out (for example, the registry's own names). There is no expiration date, and the name cannot be registered the usual way.
The domain is not in WHOIS
The answer "not found in database" means there is no record: the name is free and any accredited registrar can register it.
