Your .uz domain expired: how to get it back and not lose it

If you forgot to renew a .uz domain, it does not vanish at once. The owner has time to get it back, but each stage makes it harder.

1. The first days after expiry

According to the registry FAQ, for about 7 working days after the expiration date the domain is switched off (the website and e-mail stop working) but can still be renewed through your registrar.

2. Redemption: 30 days

Then the domain enters a 30-day redemption period. Instead of your website, visitors see a registry page with the status "REDEMPTION PERIOD" and the registrar's name. You can still restore the domain: contact that registrar. The registrar sets the terms and the price of a restore.

3. After redemption

If nobody restores it, an ordinary name drops and anyone can register it; people looking for good domains wait for exactly this moment. Short and premium names go to auction.

How not to lose your domain

  • Check the expiration date in WHOIS and renew early, ideally for several years.
  • Keep your e-mail and phone up to date with the registrar so the reminders reach you.
  • Add your domain to your Domenbor watchlist: we message you in Telegram as soon as its status changes.

Already lost the name? Add it to your watchlist: if the new owner does not renew it, we tell you when it drops again.
