How a .uz domain drops: redemption, auction and re-registration
The .uz zone is run by the UZINFOCOM registry (cctld.uz). A domain is registered through an accredited registrar for the period that was paid.
1. Expiry and redemption
If the owner does not renew in time, the domain enters a redemption period of exactly 30 calendar days. During it the registry points the domain at its own status page, which shows the status and the registrar. The owner can still restore the domain through their registrar, so a drop is never guaranteed before the period ends.
2. After redemption
Ordinary names become available for registration again. Two- and three-character names and premium names go to the auction at domain.uzex.uz.
3. Reservations
A registrar can reserve a name before payment. Such a reservation lasts about 7 days, and while it holds the name cannot be registered.
4. Moderation of new applications
New registrations in .uz go through manual pre-moderation. Being the first to apply on the day matters more than winning by seconds.
How to watch a domain
Domenbor checks the registry's DNS and WHOIS around the clock. We estimate the release date as the day we first saw the domain in redemption plus 30 days (accurate to within a day), and we alert you in Telegram the moment the name is free.
